Plan the contact card around the next action
A networking card, service badge, and appointment card do not need the same fields. Start with what the scanner should do next. A salesperson may need name, role, mobile number, email, company, and website. A conference speaker may prefer a profile URL. A support technician may need a company phone and service page without a personal address.

Business card advice
Use SVG for professional print layouts, keep the QR code at least 0.8 inches wide, and avoid placing it too close to the trim edge.
Put a clear label near the code, such as “Save contact” or “Add me to contacts.” The phone still shows a confirmation screen before saving, so verify that the preview presents the name and organization in a sensible order.
When to use a vCard instead of a URL
Use a vCard QR code when the goal is to save contact details directly to a phone. Use a URL QR code when the goal is to open a portfolio, booking page, LinkedIn profile, or landing page that you can update later.
Compatibility and update limits
Contact apps do not all display every vCard field in the same way. Test the code with at least one Android device and one iPhone when the card will be distributed broadly. A static vCard cannot be changed after printing, so use stable business details or choose a URL landing page when roles, phone numbers, or offices change often.
Public-information check
The contact data is stored directly in the QR pattern. Anyone with a copy of the card can decode it, including after the card is photographed or posted online. Use a business email or forwarding number when personal contact details should remain private.
